Deep Purple - "Smoke on the Water" - from 1972's "Machine Head" album
"Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford, Hertfordshire, in 1968. They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock." Deep Purple is one the very most important bands in the history of hard rock and heavy metal music, and they have influenced countless bands in this music genre over the decades. "Deep Purple, together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid-seventies"." (Source: Wikipedia)
Deep Purple's song "Smoke on the Water" features probably the greatest guitar riff in heavy metal and hard rock history. Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore's guitar wizardry is very evident on this fantastic song.
